Nanometer is a kind of measure, equals to billionth. Matter in nanometer size has many unusual characteristics. When nano technology comes into the world it is identified and favored by scientist around the world. The development of nano technology comes to research in every field rapidly. Surface and surface science of nanometer have developed in full flourish in recent years.
In research of these years, the group of JiangLei, who is the chief scientist assistant of national subject group of “nano material and nano structure” and doctor of Institute of Chemistry of CAS, have found that if make two kinds of incompatible materials to nano measure, they will have coordinated interaction under specified conditions and show special property in macro scope. “Binary coordinated nano interface material ” namely means processing specially to the material surface to set up a binary coordinated nano interface structure in material macroscopic surface so as to make the material have particular property.
Using this research result, scientists have developed a kind of interface substance material with both super hydrophile and super lipophilic. Surface of glass and building material decorated with this material have functions such as self-cleaning, fog proof etc.
Researchers also have developed a kind of interface substance material with both super hydrophoby and super oleophobic. Textile decorated with this material has functions of waterproof and oil proof. At present, scientists have successfully applied these nano interface materials in fields of dress and building material etc.
Chinese Commodity Transaction Center and Institute of Chemistry of CAS have already jointly founded a company in order to accelerate industrialization of the scientific payoffs. (End)

People have common understanding on surface and interface science at present stage. There can form various interface between different matters, such as metal, inorganic, organic, semi conductor and biomaterial interface. Research found that many important phenomena. With the aid of fantastic functions and features of surface and interface, which generated by contact and amalgamation of different materials, create newly typed materials and parts. That has become the guiding ideology in many research fields.
In the eyes of physical opinion, surface phase of condensed state matter has symmetry and free energy, which is different from bulk phase. When matter is reduced from the macroscopic size to microscopic size the influence of surface phase to material physical property will not be allowed to neglect. Hence, the design and control of surface phase must be the key point for researching newly typed interface materials.
The new concept “Binary Coordinated Nano Interface Material” is different from traditional single bulk phase material. It is to build binary coordinated nano interface structure on the macroscopic surface of the material. Design philosophy of the interface material is that people do not always seek for composing bran-new bulk phase material. After adopting certain special surface to process, can form greatly farraginous two dimensional surface phase fields with two different characters in microscopic size. and the area of every phase field and “interface” built by two phase is nanometer size. Research showed that nano phase with different even completely opposite physical and chemical property under certain condition was of cooperated counter action so that there presented transnormal interface physical property on macroscopic surface, namely binary coordinated nano interface material.
To the knowledge of duality in material world our ancestors had already realized to utilize logic thought of Yin and Yang duality. The development of modern science has also proved that material world from the beginning of least unit is composed by various coordinated counter duality basic particles. Not only the composition of matter but also the property of matter reflects binary cooperativity whenever possible. People are consciously utilizing the binary cooperativity to research and make new material. In the aspect of molecule and super molecular material, such as surface active agent (contemporarily having hydrophile and water repellent molecule), organic non linearity optical material (contemporarily having functional molecule with separative push-draw electronic gene). In organic super conductor and organic strong magnet, also utilizing compound molecule crystal generated by charge transfer salt, which is composed of electron donor and electron acceptor, etc. All shows the important guiding function of binary coordinated thought to research and make newly typed materials.
“Binary Coordinated Nano Interface Material” does its best to popularize binary cooperativity to the interface with nano size and peruse newly typed interface physical property. Binary coordinated complementarity of physical property is a general conception. As it is known it can present many forms. For example, hydrophile and hydrophobicity (lipophilicity and oleophbicity), admittance and insulativity, oxidability and reducibility, complementarity of surface geometry, stable structure and metastable structure, paramagnetism and anti magnetism, Type P and Type N of semi conductor, strong conductive body and anti strong conductive body, laevogyrate and dextrogyrate, etc. In general situation, the surface phase and interface phase of bulk material often show one kind of single character. In order to realize the above-mentioned binary cooperativity it need to be in virtue of soft condensed state physical and chemical ultimatum to finish the molecule design of interface material.
1. Physical property material of super biparental interface (surface with super hydrophile and super lipophilicity)
Study shows light irradiation can cause TiO2 surface forming binary coordinated nano interface structure with two concomitant phases of hydrophile and lipophilicity in the nanometer area. Like that, there will appear magic super biparental character on the surface of macroscopical TiO2. New material made by utilizing the principle can decorate the surface of glass and building material to make them have self-cleaning and antifogging functions. We can assume washing clothes only with water instead of traditional abluent; it also can be used on surface finishing of artificial vas and human organ to prevent thrombus, and improve the compatibility with living organization, so as to realize prolonging the service life. Above materials are very important to people’s life and purifying environment.
2. Physical property material of super dual distant interface (surface with super hydrophoby and oleophobic)
Utilizing the nano chemical method of epitaxial growth from downside to upside, from atom to molecule, from main molecule to congeries, can build interface structure of nano size and complementary geometry figure (such as alternating with protruding and concave) on specified surface. As on the concave surface of nano size, the absorbed gas molecules can exist stably, so there is a stable gas film on the macroscopical surface, which makes oil or water cannot contact the surface of material directly, and makes the surface present transnormal super dual distant character. 3. High efficient photocatalytic interface material with two phases, namely light anode and light cathode of concomitant in nanometer size
In virtue of research thinking of photochemistry and photoelectrochemistry, utilizing nano chemical method plan to develop manifold nano interface material with photochemistry activity. For example, binary coordinated interface structure with concomitant light anode and light cathode can be constructed in the nano area of TiO2 surface, which has high efficient photocatalytic effect under the ultraviolet radiation. It can be used for decomposing poisonous gas (such as formaldehyde, benzene and nitrogen oxide etc.) and killing the bacteria that contact its surface. The material will be importantly applied in air purification and sterilization.
The above-mentioned examples are just three typical enumerations. But duality in material world is inexhaustible. Binary coordinated nano interface material will also be inexhaustible permutation and combination. The world waited for us will be a rich and colorful, newly typed, high-grade functional material new world.
Design & Research of Binary Coordinated Nano Interface Material
1. Background and significance of research
Recently, surface and interface technology of nanometer level has developed prosperously. Though some new science pattern is under foundation, they have provided favorable opportunity for rising intersectional research of such important subjects as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Material Science and Nanometer Technology. " Binary coordinated nanometer interface material" is a brand new subject of this level, which has bearing on advanced functioning material research. So far, people has gained a common sense on surface and interface technology that various interface can be formed between different materials, for instance, many momentous discoveries occurs in the research on metal, inorganic, organic, semiconductor and biologic materials. In 20 years only, to create new material and apparatus by dint of surface and interface functioning speciality resulting from contact and amalgamation of heterogeneity materials has become the rudder of a lot of research field.
By physical concept, surface phase of condensed state matter possess symmetry speciality and natural energy that are quite different from their appearance. When some substance minishes from macroscopical size to microcosmic size,the impact of surface comparative material speciality can not be neglected. Therefore, the design and control of surface appearance is the key to new interface material research. The new concept --- "Binary coordinated nanometer interface material" take coordinated effect of non-balance state resulted from the good use of chemistry of higher level than molecule and outfields (photic field, electric field, magnetic field, thermic field, etc.) as premise, then it constructs binary coordinated nanometer interface structure on the microscopical surface of materials. According to the latest report of author, transnormal surface can be created from the surface of various original materials by use of aforementioned basic research fruit. For example, to decorate the surface of glass and construction materials will add self-cleaning and mist-repellent, ice/frost-repellent function to the; we can also add lubrication and reduce friction resistance surface function on metal materials; similarly,this technique can be carried on efficient photic/electric catalyze and wave-absorbing materials.

Under the sustain of CAS knowledge innovative project, centering on the design and study thought of above binary coordinated nano functional interface material, the research team of functional interface material in Institute of Chemistry of CAS which present the author is belonged to studies on the following three kinds of materials and gets important improvement.

Above are only three typical results on the aspect of binary coordinated nano interface material studied by the author’s research team recently. In recent years, rapid developing binary molecule material and nano science have provided new research content and direction for the theory and experiment of binary coordinated nano interface structure. We have published over 20 pieces of discourses on the side, and applied 3 patents. After putting forward the concept of binary coordinated nano interface material, it has been paid big attention by science community and enterprise community both here and abroad. We have ever been invited to give a report in “national nano structure material conference” hold in HK, and it is estimated as “our ignoring new area”. Chinese Commodity Transaction Center has invested 20 million yuan to drive its industrialization, and has attracted several big enterprises to develop the special industry, and it is hopeful to realize the industrial scale in one year.
The duality of material world is infinitude, and binary coordinated nano interface material will be also infinitude permutation and combination. Along with rapid development of science, the research about binary coordinated nano interface material will enter a new developing time, and a new and colorful world of high grade functional materials will wait for us.
Binary Coordinated Nano Interface Material

2.Preparation of low temperature solidifying fog proof and self-cleaning materials (solidifying temperature is below 150oC), prepare and test the nano mother liquorof of low temperature solidifying fog proof and self-cleaning, try to realize production capability of ×tons annually.
3. Preparation of super dual distant coating (the contact angle of water and oil is larger than 150oC). prepare and test the nano mother liquor of super dual distant to realize production capability of ×tons annually.
